Burton E. Gandrup retired Story City pharacist, died Tuesday

STORY CITY -- Burton E. Gandrup, 75, died at his home in Story City Tuesday, Nov. 25.

Services will be Friday, Nov. 28 at 1:30 p.m. from St. Petri Lutheran Church. Rev. Rolfe Johnstad will officiate with burial in the Story City Cemetery. Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home is in charge of services.

Born Feb. 18, 1900 near Slater to Arthur and Bertha Gandrup*, he moved to Story City in 1916. He married Cora Torkelson in 1921 and was a graduate of the Hyland Park School of Pharmacy in Des Moines. He was a druggist in Story City for many years and operated Gandrup Drug until he retired in 1963.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Louise (Gene) McKeever of Freeport, Ill.; two sons, Harry of Nevada and Wallace of Story City; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Burton E. Gandrup was born Burton E. Hulderson, the son of Thomas Hulderson and Bertha Ryen. Bertha (Ryen) Hulderson married secondly Arthur W. Gandrup in 1905. After Bertha's second marriage, Burton E. Hulderson was known as Burton E. Gandrup.
