Mrs. H. I. Dewall Funeral Services At St. Petri
Funeral services for Mrs. Herbert Dewall wre held in Moreland Lutheran Church in Chicago, Ill. on Thursday afternoon, February 8 with the Rev. A. M. Knutson in charge. Mrs. Lois Nelson was the vocalist with Mrs. Crukshank at the organ.
Funeral services were also held in the St. Petri Lutheran Church, Story City at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, with the Rev. George C. Strum officiating. Mrs. Robert Hermanson sang "Sweet Hour of Prayer" preceding the service and at the close "Still, Still With Thee." Mrs. Joel Jacobson was at the organ. Interment was made in the Story City Municipal cemetery.
Pallbearers were Harold Holm, Willard Holm, Raymond Romsey, Milford Romsey, Joseph Romsey and LuVerne Romsey.
Life Sketch
Alvina Lucille Severson, the daughter of Severt K. and Randi Severson was born on a farm west of Randall, January 23, 1923.
She was baptized in the St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. She was confirmed by the late Rev. G. O. Paulsrude in the Elim Lutheran Church at Randall.
She attended the public and parochial schools at Randall until 1939 when she went to Chicago to take a position.
On October 16, 1943 she was united in marriage to Herbert Dewall. To this union, one sons, Ronald, now 14 years old, was born. She was employed for some time by the Zenith Radio Corporation. She took an active part in the activities of the Moreland Lutherland Church of which she was also a former Sunday school teacher; also a cub scout Den mother.
Mrs. Dewall was well known in this community, having made numerous visits here with relatives.
She died at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames where she had been a patient about three weeks on Monday morning, February 5th at the age of 39 years.
Mrs. Dewall was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Herbert and a son, Ronald of Chicago, two sisters and a brother, Mrs. L. B. (Marie) Lawrence of Chicago, Mrs. Frank (Jeanette) Layton of Story City and Selmer R. Severson of Ames. Also one aunt, Mrs. Berthat LaPlante of Chicago and an uncle, William Holm of Stanhope.
