Mrs. Jennie Hayes Dies In Eldora; Committal Here
Mrs. Jennie Hayes, 85, longtime resident of Nevada, died Tuesday morning at 10:30 t the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Sheldon near Eldora. Death was due to complications following pneumonia.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 12:30 p. m. at the Sheldon home and at 1:00 p. m. at the Andric-Creps Funeral home in Eldora. The Rev. H. C. Short of the Eldora Baptist church will officiate. Burial will be in the Nevada cemetery by the side of the husband, the late Fred Hayes who died in Nevada in 1945.
Born in New Albany, Ind. Sept. 25, 1870, the deceased was married there to Fred Hayes and came to Nevada in 1901. For the past nine years Mrs. Hayes lived in Eldora. She and her husband had been active members in the Nevada Methodist church and Mrs. Hayes was active in the work of the American Legion Auxiliary to Post 48, and had served as its president.
Surviving are the daughter Mabel, Mrs. E. C. Hancher of Davenport; the sons Lowell of Denver, Colo.; Ernest of Monroe, Wis.; John of Clarinda, Ia.; and the daughter Ruth, Mrs. Clyde Sheldon of Eldora. The son Arlo (Pat) Hayes died at Long Beach August 22. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, on brother, Harry E. Hammersley of Los Angeles, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. Ollie Burris of Mt. Carmel, Ill.
