Rites for Caro M. Ericksen Held June 7
Funeral services for Mrs. Caro M. Ericksen, Story City, were held Tuesday afternoon, June 7, at 2 p.m. in the St. Petri Lutheran Church. The Rev. George C. Strum officiated. Mrs. Alfred Jacobson accompanied Mrs. Robert Hermanson, vocalist. Burial was in the Story City Municipal cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard Lowry, Edgar Ose, Clarence Thompson, Henry Kreutner, Thomas Chelsvig and F. C. Booth.
Obituary
Caro Mathilda Ericksen was born in Herman, Maine, Oct. 2, 1888, the daughter of Lucy and Naium Murch.
On Christmas eve, 1907, she was united in marriage to Herman Ericksen in Norfolk, Va. where Ericksen was attending a naval training school. In 1925 the Ericksen's moved to Iowa, first to Story City and then to Ames where Mr. Ericksen worked as chief machinist at the plant at Iowa State College.
Caro was a member of the Memorial Union staff for 14 years. In 1945 they purchased a home in Story City and Mr. Ericksen died in 1947.
In 1955 Mrs. Ericksen built a small house which she named "Snug Harbor." She died at the Lutheran Home in Madrid where she had lived for the past few months, on Friday, June 3 at the age of 71 years.
Surviving are one son, Herman of Corland, N. Y., seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A daughter, Thelma, died at the age of 13 years in 1925.
