From Nevada Representative March 28, 1900 (page 2)

OBITUARY.

Miss Laura E. Pearce died at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Clara McCall, in this city, last Monday morning, aged 33 years.

Miss Pearce was born in Carrollton, Ohio, and in that town most of her life was spent. Four years ago she came to Nevada to be the companion of her aunt; and here, with the exception of of visiting periods away, she has since remained. Her health has been declining for several months but hope and courage have sustained her in moderate activity until recently. During her stay in Nevada she has been a pleasant factor in society as well as in the home of her aunt; and has made many friends. A brief service was held at Mrs. McCall's residence yesterday afternoon, and many braved the rain to attend it. Amid the gloom within and without Rev. W. B. Sanford led thought toward the Sun which is the promise of "joy in the morning." Mr. Frank Ingalls sang "One sweetly solemn thought," and then tender farewells were taken of the friend, beautiful, flower strewn and regretted.

Miss Pearce's mother arrived from Washington, D. C., Friday morning expecting to nurse her daughter back to strength and bear her to welcome the latter's sister, Mrs. Ray J. Bour at Canton, Ohio. Mrs. Pearce leaves at noon to-day and does take her loved one with her but only a call will be made at Canton. Carrollton is the destination. There will be a night among the friends of early days, services on Friday and then repose with the dust of ancestors. Mrs. Pearce is accompanied from Nevada by Mr. F. C. McCall, and at Canton she will be joined by her husband, Major John B. Pearce of the quartermaster general's department, Washington, D. C.

The tender ministries of Miss Pearce's Nevada friends are well appreciated by her relatives, and grateful acknowledgment of the same is hereby made.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: "Mrs. Clara McCall" was Clarissa "Clara" (Kennedy) McCall, third wife of Thomas Clifton McCall. Laura E. Pearce was the daughter of John Bradley Pearce and Melissa (Kennedy) Pearce, Clara's twin sister.
