OBITUARY.

John Dowling, a former respected citizen of Nevada, died Tuesday morning at his house in Scranton, Iowa; and his body will be brought here for burial sometime Thursday. Mr. Dowling was 65 years of age came soon after the war to Nevada, where he ran a mercantile tailor shop on the east side of Linn street. He remained here till 1878, when he removed to Scranton; and there he has resided most of the time since having there a general store. He is very kindly remembered and spoken of by the older residents of Nevada, and by those who knew him his death is greatly regretted. He leaves a widow but no children. He united about two years ago with the Catholic church; and his burial will therefore be with Catholic services and in the Catholic cemetery.*

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: John Dowling is actually buried in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada, Story County, Iowa.
