Rites Held For Christina Arsheske
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at St. Petri Lutheran church in Story City at 2:00 for Mrs. Christina Archeske following the prayer service at the Larson Funeral home. The Rev. Ocee Johnson was the officiating pastor and burial was in the Story City cemetery.
Mrs. Robert Hermanson sang two numbers at the church service. Serving as casket bearers were T. Z. Henryson, Bert Hill, Harry Henderson, Erick Hove, John Springman and Gerhard Toft.
Obituary
Christina Bleich was born July 1, 1867 in West Prussia, Germany and came to America in 1881 spending a short time in Canada and settling in Des Moines, Ia.
She was married Sept. 26, 1889 to Gustav Archeske. The family lived in Des Moines until 1933 and moved to Story City where they have made their home ever since.
She was a faithful member of St. Petri Lutheran church since coming to Story City.
Mrs. Archeske was in weakening health during the past few years but was able to do light housework until two weeks ago. She slept quietly away on Aug. 10 at the age of 86 years, one month and ten days.
Her husband preceded her in death Nov. 10, 1950, also one son, Walter passed away Aug. 5, 1933.
She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Clara Oehlson of Story City and Mrs. Henry Oehlson of Radcliffe and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Marie Archeske of Story City. She also leaves nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
