Rebecca Salina Veneman was born Aprl 14, 1853, in Polk county, Iowa, and continued to live there until she was married April, 1870 to Nelson James. Three children were born to them. They were, William N. of Madrid; Harvey H. of Turtle Lake, North Dakota; Mrs. Ara Kingdom of Mallard. Mr. James died April, 1876. In 1883 she was married to David C. Johnson of Boone, and there were born son of Coffee Creek, Mont.; EA0OTI to them four children, Harry H. of Coffee Creek, Mont.; Van V. of Maxwell; Ara Veta of Mallard; Mrs. Bessie Cambellick of Moccasin, Mont. All the children were present at the funeral. Mr. Johnson passed away December 22, 1906, at the farm home east of Maxwell. She continued to live on the farm till about three weeks before her death. Mrs. Johnson laves also to mourn her death one brother, J. B. Vaneman [sic] of Des Moines and two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Blyer of Des Moines and Mrs. Alzina Williams of Elkhart. Mrs. Johnson was a true and devoted mother and christian and was always willing to assist wherever duty called her. She will not only be missed by her own family but by a host of friends throughout the county and state. The family will receive sincere sympathy in their hour of sadness.
