OBITUARY
Stina Heggen
Story City - Funeral services for Stina Heggen were held March 10 at Larson Funeral Home and Bethel Lutheran Church. The Rev. A. J. Bringle officiated.
Orville Olson sang "Down the Valley," Verne Hill sang two numbers: "Den Store Hvide Flok" and "Beyond the Sunset." Burial was in Story City Municipal Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Stanley Heggen, Joseph Heggen, Lowell Heggen, Harris Hill, Dale Olson and Robert Krough.
Stina Karina, daughter of Torkel and Martha Heggen was born in Olen, Norway, Dec. 31, 1876, and died March 5 at the home of her brother, John, in Story City, after an illness of more than four months.
She came to the United States with her parents, two brothers, and a sister in 1882 to the Palestine community where she attended public school and was confirmed by the late Rev. H. C. Holm in Palestine Church.
After coming to Story City she was engaged in dressmaking until 1917. She operated a book store from 1917 until 1942.
She was an active member and Sunday schoolworker in Bethel Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her paretns, three sisters and two brothers.
Surviving are a brother, John Heggen, Story City and many nephews and nieces.

N. Stady and son John and Miss Judith Hill, Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Ole Jacobson, Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Jacobson, Mason City; Anna Olive and Gertrude Heggen, Eagle Grove; Bertha, Sarah and Oliva Heggen and Mrs. Paul Heggen, Renwick.
