OBITUARY
Story City - Grant I. Johnson, son of Mathias and Sena Johnson, was born Aug. 2, 1896. He was united in marriage on May 4, 1920 at Webster City to Gladys Tressler. To this union were born two children both of whom servive.
The couple lived for a period of time on the farm west of Story City. About 23 years ago they moved into Story City, where they have resided since. Mr. Johnson served in the United States navy for approximately three years during World War I. He held his membership in Grace Evangelical United Brethren church, Story City. Before his illness, he served for some time as city marshal.
Mr. Johnson had been in declining health for some time. He was taken to the local hospital last Sunday morning. He died suddenly Sunday evening at 5:45 o'clock. He had reached the age of 57 years, 4 months and one day.
He is survived by his wife, two children, Iva Jean (Mrs. William Brattebo), and Ardis Johnson, both of Story City; two grandchildren; (a third one passed away in infancy); his mother, Sena Johnson of Story City; two brothers and two sisters: Earl Johnson of San Fernando, Calif.; Lillian (Mrs. S. Mickelson) of Story City; Fern (Mrs. Joe Johnson), Hackensack, Minn.; and Llyl, west of Story City.
Funeral services were held at Larson funeral home, Story City, and at Grace EUB church with the pastor, W. D. Winter, officiating.
Casket bearers were Alfred Jacobson, Fred Hendrickson, Helge Johnson, Orville Owenson, Silas Espe and L. B. Brattebo.
