Godby Funeral Held Sunday Afternoon
Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Jane Godby, who died at her home in Iowa Center Friday, were held at the Evangelical church there Sunday afternoon, December 14, at 2:30, conducted by Rev. Charles Pickford of Nevada, a former pastor and was largely attended by relatives and old neighbors and friends.
Margaret Jane Godby, nee Kitchen, was born in Marion county, Indiana, Feb. 14, 1850, and departed this life at her home in Iowa Center, Iowa; on Dec. 12, 1930, aged 80 years, 9 months and 28 days.
She was united in marriage to Daniel W. Godby, on Feb. 1, 1867. To this union was born two children, Mrs. Effie Smith and William E. Godby, both of Iowa Center.
She came with her husband from Indiana to Iowa on March 1, 1872 and they have lived in of near Iowa Center for the past 58 years.
Before her marriage she became a Christian and united with the Christian church in Hamilton county, Indiana, and after their removal to Story county, Iowa, she united with the Evangelical church in Iowa Center.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her aged husband, son and daughter, four grand children, six great grand children, two half-brothers, Louis and Allie Kitchen, and one half sister, Mrs. Florence Glasgow, besides a host of friends.
