HUBBARD MAN SUICIDED TUESDAY

PROMINENT RETIRED FARMER OF THAT COMMUNITY HANGED SELF

Special to the Journal.
Hubbard, Dec. 10--Ed Lehmeier, 67, well-known farmer of theis place suicided by hanging himself in the garage at his hoe herem Monday morning, his lifeless body found by his wife, when she returned from the postoffice, about 9:00 a. m.

It is thought that despondency brought on by worrying over ill-health and fancied business trouble caused the rash act.

Mr. Lehmeier, long a prominent and prosperous farmer retired from the farm in 1921 and moved into Hubbard, the two farms now being operated by his sons.

The coroner was called over from Eldora immediately after the finding of the body, but no formal inquest was held.

Mr. Lehmeier had consulted a physician at Eldora on Monday and it s thought the the information that he was suffering from high blood pressure augmented his worry and increased the despondency.

He leaves besides his second wife, who was Mrs. Tillie Crosby-Walton, before he married her about five years ago, five sons and four daughters.

The sons are August and Ernest who live upon the father's farms, Edward Jr., of Mason City, Paul of Alden and Frederick, the youngest son, who is in Michigan.

The daughters are Mrs. Louis Groem and Mrs. Lydia Below of Hubbard, Mrs. Marie Fritzmeier, Hubbard, Mrs. Marie Frfitzmeir and Mrs. Minnie Isso, both of Alden.

Mr. Lehmeier, a native of Germany, was president of the local Mutual Telephone company until recently and had been active in other business organizations. He was a life-long member of the Zion Evangelical church.

The funeral will be held Friday afternoon in Hubbard and interment will be in the local cemetery by the side of his first wife, who died many years ago.
