SUDDEN DEATH OF NEVADA MAN
RAY M'CONNELL HAD BEEN ILL FOR BUT A FEW DAYS
C. Ray McConnell, 53, native son of Nevada township, died at his home on First and J avenue this morning at 8:00, after a very brief illness.
While he had been ill and at home since Wednesday of last week, he had not been confined to his bed but since Monday. Heart failure was the cause of death.
Mr. McConnell, a son of one of the pioneer families of south of this city, had been living in Nevada for the past few year and during the summer and fall had conducted a lunch room out on East Lincoln avenue.
He leaves besides his wife three sons and one daughter. The sons are Clarence Richard, Lyle John and Kenneth Leon McConnell, while the only daughter is Doris McConnell. He also leaves a sister Mrs. O. O. Mullen, of northeast of Nevada.
The death of Mr. McConnell came as a distinct shock to the family and public as well. Few people were even aware that he had been ill.
The funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at two o'clock at the Church of Christ.

WAS PIONEER OF NEVADA NEIGHBORHOOD--DEATH SURPRISE TO ALL
Funeral services for C. R. McConnell, 53, who died at his home 1005 First street, at an early hour Wednesday morning, will be held at the Nevada Church of Christ Friday afternoon at 2:00, with his pastor J. R. Adams in charge.
Mr. McConnell, born in Nevada township, was one of the real pioneer families of the county an his death, coming as it did after a brief illness, was a surprise to the community. Death was due to a heart attack.
Clarence Ray McConnell only son of the late John and Lucina McConnell was born Febr. 10th, 1877, in Story County, near Nevada, and here he has continued to reside all of his life.
He was united in marriage to Miss Cora May Andrus, November 25th, 1903. To this union five children were born: Clarence Richard, John Lyle, Kenneth Leon, Phoebe Doris and Ralph Vincent. The latter died in infancy.
Mr. McConnell passed away peacefully at his ate home 1005 First street, Nevada, Nov. 19, 1930, with most of his family present. The doctor and nurse, his pastor Rev. J. R. Adams and wife were at his bedside with the immediate family. He leaves to mourn hie departure from this life family above mentioned, one sister Mrs. O. O. Mullen and one grandchild, besides many other relatives, and a host of friends.
Mr. McConnell was baptized into Christ, Sept. 30th, 1927, and was a faithful follower of his master interested in the work of the church and regular in attendance whenever his duties of life would permit.
Mr. McConnell was a good fellow to meet; companionable affable, always ready with a helping hand. His home and family life was harmonious and happy. He passed from his dear ones here to the more abundant life beyond.
