COLO PIONEER CALLED BY DEATH

JOHN HEMPING, 74, HAD LIVED THERE NEARLY ALL OF HIS LIFE

Colo, Nov. 10--John Hemping, 74, pioneer of the Colo neighborhood, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fay White, on the old Hemping homestead two miles south of Colo, at an early hour Sunday morning. Death resulted from high blood pressure and other complications.

The funeral will be held at the M. E. church in Colo, Wednesday afternoon at 2:00, with Rev. A. J. Clements in Charge. Interment will be in the Colo cemetery by the side of his wife, who died about three years ago. Interment will be under the ritualistic ceremonies of the Masonic lodge of which the deceased was a member.

Mr. Hemping was born in Pennsylvania, but came out to Story county with his family as a boy and lived here practically all of his life with the exception of three years spent in Western Nebraska.

He was married to Mary Lou Trites of this place and they are survived by four children, they being Mrs. Fay White, Eugene Hemping of Colo, Harry Hemping of Omaha and John Hemping of Hettinger, S. D.

He also leaves one brother Will Hemping of Colo. Two brothers and three sisters have preceded him in death.

Mr. Hemping was a member of the Masonic lodge and the O. E. S. and one of pioneer and much respected citizens of the neighborhood.
