MAN DIED FROM BROKEN NECKBELLE PLAINE MAN VICTIM OF SUNDAY NIGHT ACCIDENT
F. M. Case, 72, Belle Plaine who was injured in an automobile accident on the Lincoln highway west of Nevada, Sunday night, died at Iowa sanitarium at 6:00 a. m today and the body was taken to Belle Plaine for funeral and interment.
Mr. Case, a Northwestern employee, accompanied by his wife, daughter Ruth and a friend, Vivian West, was on the highway during the drizzling rain of Sunday night, when in some manner the car skidded on the slippery paving and turned over in the ditch.
Mr. Case was hurried over to Iowa sanitarium, where an examination indicated that his neck was broken and his condition was serious.
A specialist was called from Des Moines Monday and the family physician was here from Belle Plaine, besides a daughter, a registered nurse working in Chicago came out to assist in caring for him, but death occurred at 8:00 a. m. today.
Mr. Case has been an employe of the Northwestern for something over 50 years and was continuing in the work, refusing to accept and pension and retire.
He had been general foreman over the water division of the company for many years and was well known and very highly regarded by his employing company and the people with whom he came in contact.
Paralysis developed on Monday and the entire body below the neck appeared to be affected.
Mrs. Case suffered severe lacerations on one of her arms in the wreck, but the two girls escaped injury, other than the shock and slight ------.
