Pioneer Builder Died at Randall

Special to the Journal.
Story City, May 5--In the death of Emlo Benson [sic], 93, who died at his home in Randall the latter part of the week, one of the pioneer builders of this part of Iowa passed on. Death came upon his ninety-third birthday.

He came here at an early day but some years ago he moved to Randall where his two sons and daughter live. Mrs. Benson passed away about a year ago. He leaves two sons and one daughter and six grandchildren.

As monuments to his work one can travel in many directions and see the little school houses that he built on contract. It was not unusual for him to build those country school houses for from $450 to $500. He carries the distinction of refunding some money to the school board after he had finished the school according to contract. He said he made too much money on it.
