MRS. MATHENY DIED FROM PNEUMONIA
FUNERAL OF FORMER NEVADA WOMAN WILL BE HELD MONDAY
Mrs. Catherine Matheny, 81, died at the Iowa Soldiers Home hospital, Marshalltown, at 8 o'clock this morning, after an illness of the flu and pneumonia of less than a week.
The body will be brought to Nevada this afternoon and will be taken to the Bishop Funeral Home, where the funeral services will be held Monday afternoon a 2:00, after which interment will be in the Nevada cemetery by the side of her husband, the late Thomas J. Matheny, who died July 14, 1927.
Mr. Matheny, a Civil War veteran, accompanied by Mrs. Matheny, came out from Champaign county, Illinois in 1893, and located in Nevada, where Mr. Matheny engaged in the grocery business in which he continued during the acitve years of his life.
It was about two years ago, that Mrs. Matheny, herself invalided by injuries sustained in a fall, went over to the Iowa Soldiers home, where she had since been cared for making occasional visits with her relatives here.
Mrs. Matheny, who would have been 81 years of age March 27, was one of three sisters who, with their families came out from Illinois and located in Nevada at about the same time. The others were Mrs. R. A. Frazier and Mrs. T. A. Morain both of whom preceeded her in death.
She was a long time member of Central Presbyterian church and the auxiliary organizations and the funeral will be in charge of Rev. W. O. Benthin, of Central Presbyterian church.
