GRANT TOWNSHIP MAN DIED TODAY
A. T. HAKES VICTIM OF STROKE AT HOME OF SISTER THIS MORNING
A. T. Hakes, 71, well-known farmer and landowner of central Grant township, died in a hospital in Cedar Rapids early today from the effects of a stroke of paralysis which he suffered on Wednesday. Mr. Hakes had spent several weeks in Cedar Rapids visiting at the home of his sister,, Mrs. Hattie Port and it was while there that he suffered the stroke. He was taken to the hospital Friday.
His sister and five children were all at his bedside when he died.
The children are Vance Hakes of Amboy, Minn., and Ralph Hakes who lives upon the old farm; Mrs. Howard Olinger of Dows, Mrs. Geo. Marsh and Mrs. Ben Mather of Grant township.
Definite arrangements regarding the funeral services have not been made. The wife had been dead for a number of years.
