HENRY BANKS, AGED PIONEER IS DEAD

FUNERAL SERVICES HELD TODAY AT AMES--LIVED IN GRANT TOWNSHIP

Henry Banks, 80, one of the pioneers of Grant township died at his home at 603 Duff avenue in Ames, Saturday morning at six o'clock and was buried at that place this afternoon following services at the Adams funeral home.

Mr. Banks, a native of Canada, where he was born June 19, 1849, had lived in western Story county since his boyhood.

He was married fifty-one years ago on December 21, to Miss Amanda Taylor, who with their six children survive him.

The children are Mary Banks Penfield of Ames, Alvin Banks of near Ames, Dr. Carl Banks of Tipton, Mrs. Pearl Banks Lawson of Grant township, Glen Banks at the home in Grant township and the youngest daughter, Bernice Boehm of Ogden.

The Banks family were among the pioneers of that part of the county, the old family homestead being four miles west and two miles south of Nevada, on the southeast corner of Section 17.

Mr. Banks was an active spirit in the neighborhood, a prosperous farmer, and always had a hand in affairs of public interest.
