Clarence J. Jacobson, the oldest of eleven children born to Jacob and Martha Jacobson at Gilbert, Iowa, on Jan. 13, 1895. He was baptized at the South St Petri Lutheran Church on Feb 17, 1895, and confirmed in the Christian faith at this same church during his early teenage years.
On Feb. 22, 1923, he was united in marriage to Else (Ella) Jondall, the daughter of Ole and Elsie Jondall. Mr. Jacobson was an active farmer in the Gilbert community until the time of their retirement in 1963 whereupon they moved to their new home at 412 Grand, Story City, Iowa. Ella died on April 8, 1974, after ten years of ill health. They were married 51 years.
Mr. Jacobson was preceded in death by nine brothers and two sisters. He is survived by a brother, Daniel J. Jacobson, Ames; two sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
He died at Mary Greeley, Hospital in Ames on September 8, 1979 at the age of 84.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11, 1979, at St. Petri Lutheran Church. Rev. Rolfe Johnstad and Rev. Perry Sampson officiated. Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery.
Rev. Rolfe Johnstad and Harris Twedt, Jr. were soloists.
Pallbearers were Robert Looft, Lloyd Mart, Charles Umbreit. Theodore Barnes, Vernon Jondall, and elbourne Henderson.
