Lila Elaine Hemnes

Lila Elaine Hemnes, 98, of Roland, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. A memorial service was held Saturday, July 31 st at 1:30 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland. Burial was in the Roland Cemetery.

Lila Hemnes was born December 5, 1911 to William Henry and Ellen (Sorensen) Childers in Nevada, Iowa. She married Clifford Jondall December 29, 1930. He passed away October 3, 1959. She worked for Donnel ley's as a clerk for 23 years. Lila married Fred Hemnes on February 2, 1961.

Lila was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Roland, Women of the Moose, Academy of Friendship, and The
American Legion Auxiliary. Lila enjoyed gardening, flowers, and birds: especially her parakeets.

Lila is survived by her son Loren (Joyce) Jondall of Milton, Wisconsin; three daughters, Barbara (Gary) Erickson of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Dolores (James) McCarty of Janesville, Wisconsin, and Norma Sexe of Story City; her brothers, Harold (Doris) Childers of Story City and LaVerne (Phyllis) Childers of Roland; her sister, Bernita Rains of Nevada; 18 randchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clifford; her husband Fred who died on April 27, 1985; her daughter, Dorothy Sexe; an infant brother and brothers Wilford Childers and Bud Childers; two sisters, Martha and Darlene; a granddaughter Mary Elizabeth Jondall; and two grandsons David Sexe and Rickie Jondall.

Soderstrum Funeral Home in Roland assisted the family with arrangements.
