Gladys “Jeanette” Swalwell, 82 of Maxwell, passed away Monday, January 8, 2018, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
Jeanette was born May 9, 1935, to John William and Gladys Laree (Carlson) Lundstrom. She graduated from Maxwell High School in 1953 and was united in marriage to Max Arlo Swalwell on November 21, 1953, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Jeanette was a member of the Loring United Methodist Church and was active with the Maxwell Museum. She enjoyed attending the Thursday Morning Coffee Club, playing cards and spending winters in Texas. Above all, Jeanette loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jeanette is survived by her children: Deb (Jack) Wilkinson of Polk City, Dana (Mike) Thompson of Sackets Harbor, New York, Diane (Jeff) Golly of Cambridge and Dale Swalwell of Maxwell; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and her foreign exchange students: Henrik Hamilton, Christopher Saeden and Andre Saeden all of Sweden. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Denise Rounds; and her sister, Norma Jene Dickson.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 13 at the Loring United Methodist Church near Maxwell. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. All are invited to join the family after the service for a luncheon also at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Maxwell Museum.
