David Dresser, 69, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Israel Hospice House in Ames.

A celebration of David's life will be held 12 p.m., Friday, September 15, 2017 at Stevens Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday at Stevens Memorial Chapel.

David Dean Dresser was born June 11, 1948, in Sibley, Iowa to Lloyd and Lorraine (Foley) Dresser. David grew up in Ames where he attended Ames High School graduating in the class of 1966. Following graduation, David enlisted and proudly served in the United States Navy in Japan during the Vietnam era.

After an honorable discharge from the Navy, David continued his education at Iowa State University, earning his Bachelor of Arts Degree. David made his career as a vocational evaluator with the State of Iowa Department of Education.

On February 6, 1988, David was united in marriage to Carol Lynn Dunham. David was an avid sports fan and specifically favored the Iowa State Cyclones. He also enjoyed racing and attending numerous central Iowa dirt tracks. Most of all, David treasured spending time with Carol.

David is survived by his wife, Carol Dresser; brother, James Dresser; brother-in-law, Larry Taylor; nephew, Nate Taylor; and nieces, Stacie Lawler and Megan Colvin. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Lorraine Dresser; and sister, Mary Ann Taylor.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Israel Hospice House, Ames Animal Shelter, or the Ames High Alumni Association.
