Infant son of Virgil Kenneth & Floy Brown (1913-1913)

From Nevada Representative December 16, 1913

An infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Brown of Chicago was buried here this morning, the brief services at the cemetery being conducted by Mr. Brown's father, Rev. James Brown of Grinnell. Mrs. Brown was formerly Miss Floy Schoonover, whose mother, now Mrs. Russ* of Elk Point, South Dakota, resulted with the daughter in Chicago while the child was brought here. Present at the burial besides the father and grandfather before mentioned we the great grandmother, Mrs. W. D. Martin* of Colo and, other Schoonover, Martin and Child relatives from Colo, Nevada and Ames. The burial was beside the grave of the grandfather John Schoonover. The funeral party while here were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Bert R. Child. The two Browns left on the noon train by way of Des Moines for Grinnell.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Floy (Schoonover) Brown's parents were John Henry Schoonover and Margaret Seed. After the death of John Henry Schoonover in 1895, Margaret (Seed) Schoonover remarried to George H. Rust (not Russ as stated) on 24 June 1903 in York County, Nebraska.

"Mrs. W. D. Martin" was Nancy Permelia Loucks who married (1) George Fayette Schoonover on 1 January 1863 in Story County, Iowa. When he died in 1867, she remarried (2) William D. Martin on 28 February 1878 in Story County, Iowa. George Fayette Schoonover and Nancy Permelia Loucks were the parents of John Henry Schoonover, the grandfather beside whom the infant was buried.
