OBITUARY

MRS. JOHN J. PETERSON

The funeral of the late Mrs. John J. Peterson was conducted Friday afternoon from the Methodist church by Rev. F. R. Schirck, pastor of the Lutheran church. Present were friends and relatives including all of the children and the husbands of the married daughters. Interment was in the Nevada cemetery.

Mrs. Peterson was born Sena Christensen in Denmark on April 2, 1863, and she died near Nevada, Iowa, November 11, 1913, aged 50 years, 7 months and 9 days. She came with her parents as a young girl to this country and she was married to Mr. Peterson at Nevada on January 14, 1881. They established their home in this city and here they resided for twenty-nine years, removing thence in the spring of 1910 to the Shugert farm four miles south of Nevada, where they have since resided. Mrs. Peterson has been an active capable woman, much esteemed and admired in the circle of her acquaintance and meeting well the responsibilities of a mother of large family. For the most part her health has been excellent; but recently she had had occasional light attack of paralysis from the effects of which she speedily recovered but which were of a nature to threaten more serious trouble in the future. In time the more serious stroke came and its effects were fatal.

Mrs. Peterson is survived by her husband and by all of her eight children, the three eldest of whom are married but all returned home with their husbands for the funeral. The children are-- Carrie, Mrs. Fred Beadle of Oskaloosa; Margaret, Mrs. O. F. Bowers of Live Oak, California; Mary, Mrs. M. R. Crowell of Des Moines; Grant, Hazel, Mabel, Samuel and Lois, of whom Grant and the two youngest are at home, Hazel in Nevada and Mabel in nurse's training at Mercy hospital Des Moines.
