Ethel Janet Jacobson
Sept. 24, 1912, to May 14, 1998
Ethel Janet Jacobson, 85, of Nevada, died Thursday, May 14, at her home of heart failure.
She was born Sept. 24, 1912, in Ames, to Arthur and Addie (Jones) Wakeham. Jacobson was a lifelong resident of Story County. 
Jacobson married Edward Opperman on Dec. 22, 1930, in Ames. She married Jordan Jacobson on Jan. 31, 1946, in Nevada. She was a bindery worker at Donnelley Marketing where she retired in 1978. She was employed as a production worker at 3-M, in Ames. Jacobson enjoyed her family, traveling on bus tours and needlework.
Survivors include two daughters, Norma Okland of Ames and Shirley Carmack of Nevada; six sons, Dick Opperman, Jack Opperman and Mike Jacobson, all of Nevada, Dale Jacobson of Cambridge, and Bob Opperman and Jordan Jacobson, both of Keensburg, Colo.; 27 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Sanford of Bloomfield and Elsie Federly of Rockford, Ill.; and two brothers, Don Wakeham of Cherokee Village, Ariz., and Ron Wakeham of Ames.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1975; a son, Bill Opperman on Aug. 9, 1994; three grandsons; her parents, a brother and two sisters.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 18, at the First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ in Nevada with Dr. Fred C. Danforth officiating. Burial was held in the Evergreen Memory Gardens in Nevada. Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, handled arrangements.
