FRANK M. SWAFFORD.

Frank M. Swafford whose serious illness was reported last week from Atchison, Kansas, died there on Saturday morning, and his funeral was conducted from the Presbyterian church in this city Monday afternoon by the pastor, Rev. Leitch. The cause of his death was tubercular pneumonia, with which he had been ill for two or three weeks, although before that his health had been more or less uncertain. He had recently been engaged with B. F. Brady of Kansas City in the conduct of newspaper subscription contests and it was in the pursuit of this employment that he was located temporarily at Atchison his wife and little daughter accompanying him when his fatal illness came upon him. His serious condition was reported to his relatives about a week before his death and his father, H. L. Swafford, and his only sister, Mrs. Leona Miller of Oklahoma City, hastened to him neither knowing that the other was coming, but the two meeting by accident in Kansas City and going thence to Atchison, where they remained until they should accompany his body and his little family to Nevada.

Frank Swafford was born at Hull, Iowa November 18, 1886 and died at Atchison, Kansas March 23, 1913, aged 28 years, 4 months and 4 days. He grew up at Hull and Nevada, attended Nevada high school ,was popular with the young people here of his time, and was familiarly known here as long as he lived. He had ability and activity and had a fashion of making his way not withstanding physical handicaps. he was married young to Miss Margaret Arnold of Marshalltown, who with their daughter Dorothy survives him. His other immediate relatives are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Swafford now of Chicago, and his brothers and one sister, Harry, Leona, Bert, Homer, Carl and Fred, of whom Harry, Homer and Carl are well employed in Chicago, Bert similarly at Duluth, and Leona (Mrs. Miller) lives at Oklahoma City while Fred had remained here since the removal of his parents to Chicago a year ago. All of the family above have been here for his funeral, as has been also Frank Arnold of Marshalltown, brother of the young widow.
