OBITUARY
John W. John
John W. John, for fifty-five years a citizen of Story county and prominent in many ways and for many years, died in the fullness of time on Wednesday of this week at a hospital in Des Moines, to which on account of declining health he had been taken. Many friends were not aware of his serious condition but member of his family appear not to have been surprised, and his son Willard was up from Oklahoma at the time of his death.
Mr. John was a native of Indiana but removed to Wapello county of this state in 1858 and to Nevada in 1857. He was married here in 1861 to Sarah J. Bell, and soon afterwards they established what is till the family homestead northeast of Maxwell. There they reared their family but in late years they have removed to the village of Maxwell, where they celebrated their golden wedding on March 31, 1911. Mr. John is survived by his wife their four sons and four daughters, the sons being Edgar, Willard and Fred of Muskogee and Charles of Council Hill, all in Oklahoma, and the daughters, Mesdames Bartlet of South Dakota, Webb and Heggen of Cambridge and Bowen of Maxwell.
