Franklin Columbus Hunter, a long-time resident of Story county died Oct. 11, 1912, at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. James Arrasmith, in Ames in his eighty-third year. He was a native of Ohio married in that state in 1855 to Miss Julia Betts, and in 1856 they became settlers on a farm in Franklin township, Story county, which continued their home till in 1886 they moved to Ames where Mrs. Hunter's life closed in 1909. Five sons and daughter survive them and all excepting Clarence of North Dakota and Manford of Minnesota, attended the father's last hours. Mr. Hunter was a worthy citizen and was prominent in his portion of the county in all his active years.
