Carolyn Ann Gottschalk, 91 of Nevada, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at Windsor Manor in Nevada.
Carolyn was born December 5, 1925, in Chicago, IL the daughter of Charles and Audrey (Grueser) Neff. She graduated from Foreman High School in 1943 and shortly after graduating obtained her pilots license. Carolyn met George Gottschalk while working at the Jewel Tea grocery store and they united in marriage on September 22, 1945, in Chicago. Carolyn then worked at Container Corp during the war as a file clerk and at a National Tea store. In 1954, they moved to Mt. Prospect, IL where Carolyn worked for Montgomery Wards, the House of Western Fashions and the Daily Herald. In 1990, the couple moved to Nevada.
Carolyn was a member of the Nevada Golden K Kiwanis and Questers. She enjoyed gardening, square dancing, traveling and watching sports, especially the Chicago Cubs. Family was most important to Carolyn and George; they loved attending and supporting their grandchildren in all their activities.
Carolyn is survived by her children: David Gottschalk of Green Bay, WI, Liz (Bob) Meimann of Nevada and Tabitha (Don) Aanonson of Cambridge; her grandchildren: Nathan (Amanda) Gottschalk, Julia (Jacob) Wostrel, Jill (John) Snitko, Abby Nunez, Andrew (Carly) Meimann, Beth (Kevin) Ferguson, Stephanie (Casey) Unruh, Paul (Cailyn) Aanonson, Laura (Grant) Severson and Hannah Gottschalk; 24 great-grandchildren; her sisters: Dolores Bobek of Tomball, TX and Barbara (Bob) Ivan of Arlington Heights, IL.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on March 13, 2017; a son, Timothy Gottschalk; a great-grandson, Aaron Gottschalk; and a great-granddaughter, Rebecca Wostrel.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 17 at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada with Pastor David Burling officiating. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will follow at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Carolyn Gottschalk to dementia research at Mayo Clinic, Department of Development, 200 First Street SW, Rochester, MN 55905.
