Sylvia Marie Stemm, 103, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at her home in Ames. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Story Memorial Gardens Cemetery with a memorial service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 30 at The Rose, 1315 Coconino Road, Ames.

Sylvia was born in Boone, Iowa on October 7, 1908, the daughter of Lee and Martha Fisher. She lived in Ames since 1927 and worked at JCPenney for 15 years. She retired in 1974.

Sylvia was a longtime member of First Christian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary both in Ames.

She is survived by her sister, Betty Johnson of Boone; many nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Everett Stemm and seven siblings.

Memorials may be directed to First Christian Church in Ames.
