COUNTY PIONEER CALLED BY DEATH
MRS. ELIZABETH ELLIOT DIED THURSDAY; FUNERAL WILL BE HELD SATURDAY.
Mrs. Elizabeth Elliot, aged 88 years and for over 58 years a resident of near and in Nevada, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Emma Vincent, in this city Thursday and the funeral services will be held from the Methodist church Saturday morning at 10, after which interment will be in the family lot at Johnson's Grove cemetery.
Elizabeth Davis was born March 11, 1835, in Kingston, Penn.
In 1854, she was united in marriage to Edmund Elliot at St. Charles, Ill. they located on a farm at Charter Grove, Ill., where they remained until they moved to Story county in 1865. They located a farm at Johnson's Grove, which was their home for 30 years. In 1895, they moved to Nevada where the husband died September 12, 1909.
Their children are Mrs. Emma Vincent, Mrs. Robert Hankins of Nevada, James of Gilmore City, and Bert, of Des Moines. One son, John, is deceased.
Mrs. Elliot has lived with the elder daughter, Mrs. Vincent, since her husband's death.
At the age of 11 she became a member of the Methodist church and always remained faithful in the church of her choice even after age prevented her from attending. She passed away at Nevada, Iowa May 10, 1923 being 88 years of age, March 11, 1923.
She leaves to mourn her going one sister, Mrs. L. P. Chandler of Grants Pass, Oregon, two daughters, two sons, five grandchildren and nine great grand-children.
