Ida Mae Dennis was born August 31, 1938 to Harley and Dorothy (McCoskey) Mellinger in Webster City, Iowa. Ida Mae and Deane Dennis were married on February 14, 1957 in Webster City. She was employed in various capacities in the food service industry, after which was self-employed as a child care provider. Ida Mae was an active member of Community of Christ Church in Ames. She enjoyed baking and cooking, and family was very important to her.

Ida Mae passed away June 26, 2017 in Ames at 78 years of age.

Ida Mae is survived by her husband, Deane Dennis of Ames; her children, Denise (Steven) Van Marel of Ames and their daughters, Lora (Rob) and Sara; Mark (Julia) Dennis of West Liberty and their son, Luke; and Elaine Burke of Ames and her daughters, Haley and Rachel.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Howard Mellinger.
