Allan Donaldson Dehm was born April 4, 1947 to Darrell Lee and Charlotte Louise (Donaldson) Dehm in Fairfield, Iowa. Allan graduated in 1965 from Cardinal High School in Eldon, Iowa, and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1965 to 1969, being stationed in Alaska and California. He began working for the Ames Fire Department in 1969 and earned a Fire Science Certification from DMACC, and was a 30-year member of the International Association of Firefighters. Allan retired from the AFD in April of 2002 and enjoyed photographing his grandchildren at their various sporting events.

Allan was service orientated, he cared deeply about people especially his family. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with his friends and family. He will be remembered for his excellent sense of humor.

Allan passed away May 23, 2017 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames at 70 years of age.

Allan is survived by his children, Donald (Brenda Lundt) Dehm of Tucson, Ariz. and Leanna (Bob) Ellis of Roland; his grandchildren, Samantha Reisinger, Sean Reisinger and Lois Dehm; and his step-grandchildren, Jacob Ellis, Riley Ellis and Jacey Ellis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Deanna Findley; his brother, Robert (Bob) Dehm; his sister, Pamela Lea Coleman; and his foster sister, Virginia Valde.

Memorials may be designated to Israel Family Hospice House, MGMC Foundation, 1111 Duff Ave., Ames, IA 50010.

Adams Funeral Home in Ames is assisting the family with arrangements.
