Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Arthur Eugene Riley was born January 14, 1924 to Victor and Florence (Jensen) Riley in Ames, Iowa. He graduated from Ames High School in 1941. Art served in the U. S. Army during WWII and while serving was called home to take over the family farm. He married Kathleen DeMoss on June 21, 1947 and they were married 61 years before her passing. Art farmed until 1971 and then worked as building coordinator of McKay Hall at Iowa State University until his retirement in 1989.

Art was a member of the Story County 4-H Fair Association Board and Bethesda Lutheran Church. He was an instrumental part of the Wednesday meals at Bethesda. Art was a Godly man whose love for the Lord was great and guided him throughout his life - he raised his family by these principles. Art and Kay were foster parents to teenagers through YSS for nine years. His door and heart were always open.

Art passed away at 93 years of age on May 19, 2017 at Bethany Manor in Story City.

Art is survived by two sons, David (Karen) Riley of Sioux City and their children, Kami (Lon) Claeys, Jedidiah Riley and Gabriel (Danielle) Riley, and Joseph Riley of Ames and his children, Angie (Mark) Hidlebaugh and Jim Riley; two daughters, Mary (Joel) Glenn of Huxley and their children, Rachel and Brian, and Mitzi Riley (Galen Omvig) of Ames and her children, Tyler (Robyn) Lewis and Rebecca Lewis; seven great-grandchildren; and his daughter-in-law, Gail Williamson of Monrovia, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathleen; his son, Phillip Riley; and his sister, Marie Forth.
