FREELY GOLLY DEAD IN FRANCE

Zearing, Dec. 11--Mrs. Fred Golly who has been in Colo for some time nursing, returned here on Tuesday, having received word that her son, Freely, was dead in France.

Freely Golly Dead

Sergeant Freely Golly, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Craver of this city and Mr. W. H. Golly of Zearing, died of influenza in France a short time ago, according to word received by the relatives from the department in Washington.

Fred Golly, father of Sgt. Golly lives in Marshalltown while the mother is now living in Minneapolis. Golly was a member of Co. C Fifty-fourth Engineers. He enlisted in Minneapolis in August, 1916 and went across in July of this year.

Sgt. Golly was born at Zearing, which was then the family home on July 3, 1896. He attended high school in Marshalltown in 1911 and 1912 and had spent the most of the time after that previous to his enlisting in Minneapolis with his mother.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Freely Earl Golly was the son of Frederick Henry Golly and Fidelia May Craver. His parents divorced 25 December 1893 in Story County, Iowa. His grandparents mentioned were Henry Clay Craver and Emeline (Norton) Craver.
