From Nevada Representative October 9, 1907

Mr. F. B. Snelling was called to Nebraska Monday night by the death of his brother John Snelling who died at Wahoo in that state on Sunday or Monday. The deceased was 75 years of age, and he was a resident of Nevada in the early day. He taught school in the first court house in 1857, fifty years ago, enlisted afterwards in an Illinois regiment and served for nearly five years in the army, coming out as a second lieutenant. He went from here to Nebraska shortly after the war and has since been a resident of that state.
