Mrs. Samuel Scott, an old pioneer resident living one mile west of Peoria City died on Friday last aged 82 years. The funeral services were held in Peoria on Sunday and burial was in the beautiful Peoria cemetery. Mrs. Scott has been an invalid for over five years. She was a uniform and consistent Christian. Her piety shone with a steady radiance and its luster was brightest when the clouds lowered and the cup of sorrow was being pressed to her lips. She was a cheerful Christian and cheerfulness reigned in her presence and she knew how to diffuse substantial joy by her ever present smile to the circle of friends in which she mingled for as many years. Her funeral was largely attended. It was a sad occasion but our sorrow is controlled by the power of a great hope.
