A man was killed on the track north of Slater by the southbound passenger train Saturday evening. He was a comparative stranger in the neighborhood but had bee working near Slater for a while. From the way he acted on the track and from remarks he is reported to have made, it is doubtful whether his remaining on the track to be run over was the result of purpose or inattention.
