OBITUARY
Death of Mrs. Laura Barker
Mrs. John Barker, better known here in her younger days as Laura Jacobson, died within the past few days at Tucson, Arizona; and her remains, we understand, will be brought back to her former home at Lyons for burial. Mrs. Barker was a younger sister of Mrs. Homer C. Boardman; and during the years of her girlhood and young womanhood she was a visitor at Nevada so frequently as to be counted among the young people of Nevada in the earlier and middle '80s. After her marriage her husband and herself lived at Lyons and she continued her visits to Nevada occasionally, until six or eight years ago premonitions of consumption in her caused the family to move at once to the territories of the southwest. This removal undoubtedly prolonged her life; but it did not effect a complete recovery, and her death has finally resulted. Mrs. Barker was a very attractive girl and woman and she will have many mourners among these here and elsewhere who used to know her. She was in the neighborhood of forty years of age, and she leaves her husband and two daughters aged respectively sixteen or seventeen and twelve.
