From Nevada Representative June 6, 1906
Additional data concerning the life story of James Gibson of Franklin township, whose death was chronicled in Monday's issue of the Representative, have come to hand as follows: James Gibson was born in Vermillion county, Indiana, October 20th, 1835; moved as a lad with his parents to Illinois and later to Marshall county, Iowa and there was married, August 21st, 1860 to Margaret Wyatt. They came to Story county in 1865, and since 1866 have lived on the farm where Mr. Gibson passed away, on the second of June. The farm in that early day was barren of improvements, but during the past forty years it has been brought by the steady application, energy and integrity of the owner to a high state of cultivation and building improvements. Mr. Gibson was always a man of great activity and ambition and up to his fatal illness had enjoyed better health than the average man. On May 22nd he became seriously ill with inflammatory rheumatism from which he suffered greatly until relieved by death. The funeral services were held in the Congregational church at Gilbert Monday, June 4th, and were conducted by Rev. Mr. Buck. Interment was in the Gilbert cemetery. Mr. Gibson was a member of the Congregational church, was a man of sterling worth, and was held in high esteem by his fellow citizens.
