OBITUARY

DEATH OF DR. LYDA

Dr. J. W. Lyda of this city died this morning at the hospital in Des Moines. He had been very ill here for several weeks, and his condition had been regarded as critical. Finally it was judged best to take him to a hospital in Des Moines, and he was taken there last Wednesday. The change appears, however, to have been without profit; and his death ensued as stated. Dr. Lyda was a practitioner of the osteopathic school, and he was wholly devoted to his profession. Outside of his professional work he appeared to have little interest in pubic matters; but within the field of his work he was most diligent and successful. He built up here a large and lucrative practice; and by the people who came in contact with him he was accounted a very capable representative of his school.

Dr. Lyda had a family in Missouri, and his son was here during his illness to attend to him. Otherwise they were not known here. His remains, however, will be taken to his former home in that state.*

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Dr. Levi Wood Lyda was buried in La Plata, Macon County, Missouri.
