Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Paul Eugene Janssen, Sr. was born November 29, 1944 to Vernon and Melvina (Griffith) Sprague in Boone, Iowa. Paul married Virginia Purvis and to this union four children were born, Gene, Amy, Paula and Jimmy. Paul and Esther Vilmont were married September 9, 2000 in Story City, Iowa. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and was employed as a truck driver. Paul enjoyed camping, fishing, puttering around his garage, and tinkering with his trains. He loved his friends and family very much.

Paul passed away March 22, 2017 at 72 years of age.

Paul is survived by his wife, Esther Vilmont of Gilbert; his children, Gene Janssen of Ames, Amy (Troy) Theilen of Ames, Paula (Greg) Conis of Story City and Jimmy (Jackie) Janssen of Ames; his step-children, Steve ( Dawn) Smith of Gilbert and Christine (Todd Tilley) Smith of Nevada; his grandchildren, Chase, Brittany, Dalton, Daniel, Morgan, Tyson, Leo and Emma; his siblings, Nancy Manke, Patty (George) Tolle, Bob Sprague and Kay Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Evelyn and Joy.

Memorials may be designated to Leukemia research of the donor's choice.

Adams Funeral Home in Ames is assisting the family with arrangements.
