OBITUARY
DEATH OF MRS. FOOTE
Mrs. Olive J. Foote died about nine o'clock this morning at the home in this city of her daughter, Mrs. J. F. Loucks, aged 83 years, 5 months and 17 days. She had been in most excellent health for one of her years until Saturday of last week, when she was taken ill. Her condition was from the first of her illness very serious; but she picked up some during the fore part of this week. Later, however, she failed again, and the end came as stated.
Olive J. Robbins was born in southern Indiana October 8, 1825, and her early life was for the most part spent in Ohio and Michigan. She was married to John J. Foote at Oberlin, Ohio, February 14, 1848, and they made theri home in Ohio until 1854, when they emigrated to Iowa. Their residence in this state was all in Story county, their first settlement being near Story City, and later they removed to Pleasant Grove in Milford township, where their residence continued until the death of Mr. Foote July 11, 1879. Since that time Mrs. Foote has ahd her home with her daughters, Mrs. J. F. Loucks of Nevada and Mrs. W. W. Child of Ames. Besides these daughters there was a third daughter who died in 1881, and two sons, George N. Foote of Ames and O. E. Foote of North Dakota, also survive.
Mrs. Foote was a very active and much esteemed woman, whose years were borne lightly and whose interest in affairs about her continued through her life. She had been a member of the Methodist church since she was seventeen years of age and had always been faithful to her churchly relations. Her long life has been a useful one and has closed peacefully. Her funeral will be conducted from the Methodist church at two o'clock Sunday afternoon by Rev. Shaw.
