OBITUARY

DEATH OF EDMUND WHITE

Edmund White died at his home in the south part of this city at an early hour this morning. He had been ill only since last Wednesday, but a complication of troubles rapidly exhausted his strength and the end came as stated. His funeral will be conducted from St. Patrick's church next Wednesday forenoon at 10:30 o'clock.

Mr. White was a native of Ireland and was somewhere between sixty and seventy years of age. He came to this country as a boy and for a considerable time he lived at Alton, Illinois. He came to Story county about 1872 or 1873 and located on a farm near Colo, where he lived until the spring of 1892. He then removed to Nevada, living at first on Vine street north of the track but later purchasing his present home of Elm street. His family consisted of himself and wife and his much younger half-sister, Miss Nellie White, who had lived with them since she was a child. Miss White came home Thursday evening from State Center, where she has taught for several years, and was with her brother and his wife in his last days. Mr. White was a very quiet but most estimable man, whose modesty did not hide his worth and who was most highly esteemed by all who knew him. His death will be very greatly regretted.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Edmond White, his wife, Anna (Finn) White, and Edmond's half sister, Nellie White, are all buried next to each other in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Nevada, Iowa.
