Word is received of the death of Mrs. Caroline J. Peabody sister of the late Mrs. J. A. Fitchpatrick. Her death occurred February 24th at her home in Fresno, California, and resulted from grip. Mr. Peabody was the widow of Dr. Peabody, a surgeon in the Union army, she came from New York, by way of Michigan to Iowa with other members of the Pierce family soon after the war, and lived in Cherokee till the migration of the Pierces to Fresno about twenty-five years ago. While her home was at Cherokee she often visited her sisters, Mrs. Fitchpatrick and Miss Viola Pierce in Nevada. She was a woman of marked literary talent and beloved by all who knew her for her benevolence and Christian faith.
