Accident and Death
A sad accident happened Saturday evening at the farm home of Lyman Clowser two miles southwest of town. It seems his son Joseph was doing the evening chores as usual, and in passing close to a colt the animal kicked one foot landing on the neck just under the chin the other foot striking the lad near the heart. Medical aid was called quickly but it seemed no human aid could save the boy, and he passed away about 1 o'clock the same evening. This is sad indeed as Joe was liked by all who knew him. He being about 10 years of age, the saying comes vividly to us:--"The flower bloom and in a short time are cut down." Funeral services were held Monday, Rev. Nealy giving a short address after which all that was mortal of little Joe was laid to rest in the beautiful cemetery east of town.
