OBITUARY
A GOOD WOMAN GONE
Death of Mrs. IngallsMrs. O. B. Ingalls passed away from her home on Pine street this morning at 7:15. Her decline had been constant for some weeks and it had been realized that the end might be expected at any time. She passed last night restlessly, yet seemed not different from many another night, till toward morning when she dropped into a quiet sleep from which she did not waken. Her illness dated from the last of February when an attack of grip induced inflammatory rheumatism, which resulted in pernicious aenemia an improverishment of the system which medicine cannot reach. Filial devotion, skilled nursing and friendly sympathy have done their utmost in alleviating her suffering; yet the six and a half months on a bed of pain have been full of weariness, though not of discouragement.
Julia Electa Robinson was born at Alexandria, Genessee county, New York, December 21, 1845, and died, as stated, at Nevada, Iowa, Monday, September 14th 1908, aged 62 years, 8 months and 23 days. She grew up in the vicinity of her birthplace and there during her girlhood her father died and her mother married a Mr. Belknap, and there she remained when Mr. and Mrs. Belknap set out in 1866 to seek a new home in DeKalb county, Illinois. But Mrs. Belknap being taken ill on the journey and obliged to tarry in Ohio, the daughter went to her, nursed her back to health and accompanied her to the new home in Cortland, Illinois. At Cortland, Miss Robinson made the acquaintance of O. B. Ingalls, a young man in railway employ, there she became Mrs. Ingalls January 21, 1864, and continued to reside till their removal to Monmouth, Jackson county, Iowa in 1871. In October 1874 they came to Nevada and here has since been their home. Their children are Arthur, of Kansas City, Mo., Frank O. of this city, and Fred of California-- Frank, Fred and little Flora Belle, the latter of whom brightened their home but nine months, being triplets. Of grandchildren they have two, both children of Arthur. To the little grand-daughter Gladys, Mrs. Ingalls was for some years a devoted mother.
Mrs. Ingalls has been a woman of worth and character, never seeming robust, yet unsparing in her devotion to home interests and active in every good work possible to her. She united with the Presbyterian church in the later seventies, under the pastorate of Rev. Isaiah Reid; for almost a quarter of a century her mellow alto voice was heard in the church choir, and when fatal illness overtook her she had for thirty years served as treasurer of the Ladies Aid society. Her friends were numbered by those who knew her well and many besides the lone group at home, the bereaved husband and son, Frank, will sorrow for her deeply.
Her funeral will be held at the Ingalls residence at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon, Rev. W. B. Sandford of Waterloo officiating. Her son Arthur and her brother, Mr. F. M. Robinson, both of Kansas City, are expected to arrive tomorrow.
From Nevada Representative September 18, 1908
The funeral of the late Mrs. O. B. Ingalls as held at the Ingalls residence Wednesday afternoon, and was largely attended. Flowers everywhere tokened hopelessness; the ministry of Rev. W. B. Sandford was appreciative and uplifting, the choir sang hymns which had been loved, and "earth to earth" was spoken at the Nevada cemetery. The son, Arthur Ingalls, was here from Kansas City and was accompanied for the day by his cousin, Frank Robinson, now a business man of the same city, who in his childhood was fostered by Mrs. Ingalls for several years when he was motherless. The brother and wife of O. B. Ingaslls, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Ingalls, also their son, Warren, were here form Council Bluffs, as was from Chicago Mrs. Emma Kidd, cousin of O. B. and mother of Miss Kidd, the gentle nurse who had attended the deceased. All have returned except Arthur Ingalls and Mrs. Kidd, who will remain a few days longer. Arthur brings pleasant word of his daughter Gladys who is in the care of a relative, attending school and doing well.
