Mrs. Wheeler Dies.

Mrs. Candace Wheeler*, one of the pioneers of Story county, died April 15 [1907] at Grass Valley, California, where she was visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Wheeler came from Chicago in a wagon on their wedding trip forty one years ago and settled on a farm in Grant near where the Enterprise school house is located. The trials of a young bride who had been city reared were severe in the new environment but they helped to develop a pure staunch Christian character. After a time the Wheelers moved to Ames and there Mr. Wheeler died some years ago. Early settlers remember Mrs. Wheeler very kindly.
