Yvonne V. "Daisy" Fjelland was born April 27, 1923 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the daughter of Elmer and Charlotte (Viland) Dobbe. She was baptized and confirmed at Palestine Lutheran Church in rural Huxley, Iowa. She graduated from Huxley High School in 1940 and married Martin Sanford "Doc" Fjelland of Huxley on August 4, 1943 at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley.

Daisy worked as a bookkeeper, in women's retail sales, as a grocery store manager, at Ballard as a school secretary, and as a cook in a nursing home, a tea room, and at a fraternity. She is most remembered for starting The Fjord, a Norwegian smorgasbord restaurant with her parents in 1954. She co-owned and operated The Fjord from 1954 to October of 1967. She was known for cooking and baking delicious Norwegian foods.

Daisy inherited her mother's Frovik/Frowick creative gene and enjoyed rosemaling, painting porcelain dolls and other items, and jewelry. "Daisy's Dolls" filled her home and brought her great joy. She made, painted, repaired, and beautifully dressed hundreds of dolls which were enjoyed by family and friends.

Daisy touched many lives by willingly and generously volunteering her time and talents to family, friends, church, and the Huxley community. Where there was a need, she filled it by nurturing others during difficult times, and by organizing reunions, weddings and other local events.

She will be missed by all here, but as His faithful servant, she was ready to be welcomed into the waiting arms of her Lord and Savior and to join family in her Heavenly Home.

Daisy passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the Madrid Home in Madrid, Iowa.

Daisy is survived by three Dobbe sisters, Idalice Lee of Huxley, Darlene Freed of Waukee and Beverly (Richard) Anderson of Lakewood Ranch, Florida; her brother, Earl (Gerri) Dobbe of Eldridge, Iowa; her sister-in-law, Marilyn (John) Greene of Huxley; and ten living nieces and nephews and their families.

Family members preceding her in death were parents, Charlotte (Viland) and Elmer Dobbe; her husband, Martin S. Fjelland; her brother, Ronald E. Dobbe; her brothers-in-law, Leonard E. Lee and O. David Freed; and two nephews, Steve Lee and newborn son of Earl and Gerri Dobbe, Christopher.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fjeldberg Lutheran Church, the Madrid Home, or Ballard Creek Community.
